I took a screen video using quicktime of a distressed Facebook status I typed on our face Facebook profile about our hypothetical character "Kate Boxforde" Whose Facebook has been hacked. In It I expressed that she has made a new account because her old one was hacked and she has no idea what to do about it and she is very stressed out because she has no control over what is being posted on her old account. I edited it over these shots of Abby looking distressed to make it look like Abby was posting this. In the voice over I talk about how teens are becoming depressed and suicidal and the hacking of their Facebook accounts is seriously impacting them and causing depression in teens.
Angle: High angle to Make Abby look vulnerable as we are acting as if she is depressed as she has had her Facebook hacked and has no control over it.
Close up: To show her sitting looking on her phone in better detail.
Bright lighting to show that she has tried to destress by being outside and by the sea.
Angle: Slightly high to Make Abby look vulnerable as we are acting as if she is depressed as she has had her Facebook hacked and has no control over it.
Shot: Mid shot to get some of Abbys location and represent she is by the sea to try to calm down as she is very stressed out in this scene.
Bright lighting to show that she has tried to destress by being outside and by the sea.
Straight on angle
Close up: to show abby distressed facial expression
Bright lighting to show that she has tried to destress by being outside and by the sea.
In this next shot I overlaid many shots of hacking websites to show how many resources there are to actually hack a Facebook.
Angle: High angle to Make Abby look vulnerable as we are acting as if she is depressed as she has had her Facebook hacked and has no control over it.
Long shot: To show Abby as small and vulnerable as well as show some of the background
Bright lighting to show that she has tried to destress by being outside and by the sea.
I also made two stop motions to do with the mental health of teenagers as the impact of a Facebook hack can easily cause an instant deterioration in a teens mental health.
I chose to make stop motion animations as I have always been pretty good at stop motion and Im pretty terrible at animation, plus another group is already doing that and I didn't want to copy their idea. Plus I thought it would be a good idea to play on my strengths for this assignment and I needed something visually appealing for the viewers to look at.
Shot: Mid shot, enough to get everything in good enough detail but not too far away or too close, otherwise you could not see much, or the paper that my figures are sitting on wouldn't cover the whole screen.
Angle: High, as Im filming two dimensional objects.
Lighting: Bright, so everything shows up well. And so the shot is professional looking (I hope)
In the first animation the voice over tells the audience how 1/16 teens experience depression.
I lined up 16 figures: 8 boys and 8 girls and singled one out.
To add interest I drew the statistic on the page.
In the second animation the voice over I am speaking about the rate of teen suicides in Australian. How it is the biggest Killer of young teens and how in 2012 10.5/100 000 young Australians commit suicide.
I dropped the figures onto the page to symbolise masses of people
I then took many away so only 10 were left (to symbolise 10.5 although I didn't ant to put half a person in there so I figured ten would be fine)
To add interest I wrote the numbers in.
Another thing I did was a suggestion from mr andrews that I spoke about on here the other day, which was to seriously speed up the hacking process so t only shows a short taste of it rather than a step by step process so it looks less like an infomercial.
I also got rid of some irrelevant information like information about teens being too trusting and vulnerable. The reason I did this is because it is kind of given that teens are too trusting and vulnerable just from the fact that they share their passwords with one another. I was also kind of missing the point of the documentary by saying this as i was stating the statistics of Facebook hacking and saying that it impacts teens because they are so trusting, not that teens are impacted because of the hacking
