Flipping the stereotype of the fairy godmother

Today in media we had a look at stock characters like: the blond bimbo, the gossip neighbour etc. We looked at how to challenge the stereotype and used the example of the fairy godmother.

Stereotypes
- Typically old
- female
- wise
- powerful
- gentle
- understanding
- kind
- Shows up when the protagonist is in trouble
- glamorous
- hypothetically magical
- normal sized
- Feminine

Shots we could take
- Shot of the wand
- overexposure to represent that it is dream like
- Lots of darkness then light
- so far away that she is just a little light
- Fairy dust
- Silhouette

Clothes she is wearing
- puffy dress
- sparkles
- light blue or pink

Flipping the stereotype what would we keep the same:
- wise
- grant wishes
- wise
- Shows up when the protagonist is in trouble

What could we change
- He could be snarky instead of sweet
- He does not necessarily have to be old
- He could be a bit lazy
