I really wanted to build, in this scene, just how much Nicole infuriates Libby by complaining about everything that she wants. between Nicole complaining about fane and fortune and the fan at the door Libby cannot get a word in. I wanted to include a lot of reaction shots in here. Hitchcock's dialogue is fairly meaningless and he tells the story with film and peoples facial reactions. He has a classic technique that he uses where he films someones face, then the thing that they are looking at then their face agin (often more close) to capture their reactions to tell the story without the sue of dialogue. This occurs for mostly libby but also Nicole in this scene when the fan comes to the door. In Hitchcock films also a lot of the time two things happen at once and one thing often creates humour. So here is Nicole complaining about her fans to Libby while a fan is screaming at Nicole behind her door and doing exactly what annoys Nicole the most. Despite the fact that the dialogue is fairly meaningless I wanted add the fact that Nicole found murder funny as there is usually a character who finds murder funny in Hitchcock (e.g strangers on a train when Bruno is talking about his plan for a perfect murder to a woman at a party who finds it just hilarious.
